Baseball Star is a free baseball simulation game where you create virtual baseball players and manage their career. Each virtual player exists in their own simulation but compete on global leaderboards.

Each player participates in 6 simulated games per day (once every 3 hours) and receives stars based on their performance. Stars are used to upgrade a player by increasing attributes such as hitting power, contact rate, base running, and more.

Each of your player's games is simulated based on your player's attributes, in-game factors, and real-life historical data. Our simulation engine is fine-tuned to mimic real baseball's ups, downs, and crazy moments.

During each season you earn achievements (Player of the Week, Player of the Month, Game MVP, and more) and can be selected to the All-Star game, as well be voted as the league's MVP.

Each season takes about a month (27 days) to simulate and after your first 2 seasons your original contract will end. At this point you will enter free agency and may receive contract offers from other teams. Your previous team may also send you a contract offer if they wish to retain your talents. If your player has underachieved then you may be forced into retirement (no contract offers). If this happens then you can just create a new player and try again. As in reality, not all players have long careers. All of your retired players are saved to your account and are still listed on leaderboards.

Players earn stars as their career progresses. The stars they earn are based on their performance and for their achievements (Player of the Week, Player of the Month, Game MVP, and more).

Example: A home run will earn a player 14 stars while a strikeout will result in a deduction of 1 star.

The more stars your player earns the higher they will be ranked on the global Hall of Fame leaderboard. The Hall of Fame shows you all of the players in other simulations ranked by total career stars earned.

Stars are used to upgrade your player's attributes such as their hitting, contact rate, base running ability, and more. You have full control over how your player develops and can choose to improve certain aspects of their game. Want your player to be a power hitter? Simply upgrade their home run hitting ability. Want a speedy base runner? Upgrade their stolen base attempt attribute. Click here to upgrade your player.

Important note: Using stars to upgrade your player does not count against your player's career total and does not change their rank on the Hall of Fame leaderboard.

You get more stars as your season progresses. Baseball Star was set up this way to mimic a player getting better over time.

A player's age increase by 1 year with every season that they play. This occurs at the start of each season.

Throughout the season, players can be upgraded by using stars that they earned.

Each player has a small chance to regress at the end of each season. Older players tend to regress at a higher rate. Regression can only happen if you have upgraded a player's attribute and cannot exceed the amount you've upgraded it.

Example: You upgrade your 32 year old player's hitting ability and the season ends. Throughout your player's career you've upgraded this ability by 5. At the end of the season the player's hitting ability has a small chance (~10%) to regress by no more than 5.

Every player you see on the leaderboards (Hall of Fame, Record Books, Awards, Career Leaders, Bonuses) is managed by a real person somewhere in the world. Players exist in their own simulation so you'll never face off against against a player owned by a real person. The leaderboards are a fun way to see how your player stacks up against players in other simulations.

This means that other players you see on your team are not real. However, every player you do see on leaderboard pages is managed by a real person. These players exist in a side-by-side simulation.

Baseball Star was set up this way to make it possible for multiple users to have players on the same team without having to compete for playing time.

Example: Antoni Carpenter is owned by user #1 and is a third basemen for Baltimore. Shaun Vander Wal is managed by user #2 and also plays third base for Baltimore. These players exist in their own world and don't compete for playing time. However, these players do compete on the sitewide leaderboards.

A week spans 6 games, or 1 day in real life.

A month spans 24 games, or 4 days in real life.

A year spans 162 games, or 27 days in real life.

The team that your player plays for is managed by our simulation engine. The "manager" of your team picks a new batting order once every 6 games. You will receive a notification every time this happens.

Your spot in the batting order may go up, stay the same, or go down. This decision is based on your recent performance and weighted against your overall ability.

You can see your spot in the batting order on the home page (upcoming games panel and sidebar) and the upcoming games tab of your team's schedule.

Players are picked as the Game MVP if they earn greater than 50% of their team's total stars in a game and earn more than 10 stars. This bonus boosts the player's stars for that game by 35%.

Example: Player earns 20 stars in a game and, as a whole, the player's entire team earns 35 stars in the same game. Player will be the MVP of the game because they earned > 10 stars and > 50% of the total stars. The player will receive a boost of 7 stars (35% of 20).

Players are automatically retired at the end of a season if the contract with their team ends and if they don't receive a contract offer from any other team. Teams are more likely to offer a contract if your player has had a good season and if they aren't too old. Older players tend to receive shorter contract offers and have a higher chance of not being wanted when their current contract ends.

Every account has the ability to "unretire" 1 player.

This can be used to convince a single player to come out of retirement and sign a 1-year deal with their previous team. The player may receive a follow-up contract at the end of this deal. If not, however, the player will be permanently retired.

Please note that if you decide to bring a player out of retirement you will not be able to do this for any of the other players you manage.
